Unlimited Individual Coaching

I do two kinds of coaching - unlimited coaching with an individual and organizational coaching where I work with a whole company or a team.

Unlimited Coaching – Is it right for you?

Why Work With a Coach?

A coach helps you perform at your best. Superstars in many fields have coaches from athletics, to actors, to business owners. Here are some of the ways I help my clients:

  • Accountability. As business owners, we don’t have a boss. Isn’t that the point? Yes, but have you ever had a really great idea that gets lost in the shuffle of daily problems? A coach can hold you accountable to your best ideas.
  • Time. I help clients be more effective and less stressed in the 24 hours a day we all have.
  • Clarify your thinking. A coach is a confidante and a sounding board with no agenda other than your success.
  • Run Your Business Better. I work as a consultant as well as a coach. I'll help you become a better CEO.
  • I do NOT have a magic wand. I help you work better (and often less) but I don’t do the work for you. If you’re not willing to change what you do and how you do it when you show up at work, this program is not for you.

Why Work With Me?

I was part of the founding team of the International Coach Federation and served as their third president in 1998. As one of the first people to receive the MCC (Master Certified Coach) certification, I've been working with business owners since 1994. But I've also been in the trenches owning and running several companies since 1979.

I've built companies and worked with many others who have. So I know what works in the real world and what doesn't. More of my background can be found here. You'll read about me running a company 1,500 miles away from my home and my experience as an angel investor working with startups.

Why Now?

How long do you want to wait for change? The answer is up to you. It’s like they say about planting trees or investing. The best time to do it is 20 years ago. The second best time is today.

How Does Coaching Work?

We’ll schedule times to talk by video call or by phone. Sessions usually last 30-60 minutes. After that you’ll be tired of hearing my voice and want to go back to work – so I’m pretty motivational [grin]. Each session starts with an agenda, and ends with scheduling our next call plus an agreement by you to take some actions in the meantime.

To Get the Most From a Coach

  • Be ready to change what you do at work. This is called being coachable.
  • Be at a computer for our sessions and in a place where you can talk freely.
  • Devote 2 hours a week to transforming your business using tools and ideas we discuss in our sessions.

What Happens in a Coaching Session?

A coaching session is a combination of your agenda and mine. So we cover a mix of what's important and urgent (your agenda) and what's important but not urgent (my agenda).

  •  We often start with an update of what's happened for you since we talked last. This way we can discuss your progress and any problems you may be facing.
  •  During the call I'll share relevant models and templates, and sometimes we'll work on a shared document together.
  •  Each session ends with a set of action items that you agree to work on before our next call.

What's Covered in Coaching?

As a company grows the function of a CEO changes. My agenda is focused on helping you adapt to those changes and become a better CEO as you grow your company in a way that achieves your goals.

There are a number of standard functions that need to be working well for a company to reach its full potential. I'll list some of them below. Many of these have one (or more) exercises that go with them. The results of these exercises become the tools you'll use to run your company better.

The great thing about individual coaching is we will customize the timing of when to work on each of these based on your company needs, which ones you're naturally good at, and other specifics of your situation.

Terms

  • I charge a flat fee per quarter, paid in advance. No long term commitment.
  • We’ll talk as often as you want. Based on my schedule & availability
  • Emails & short calls between sessions are included and encouraged
  • You can record the calls if you want, and use all the models and templates I share for as long as you want. But only in your current company, and you can't sell or give away this information.

The Meter Is NOT Running

I don’t believe you can always plan when you need support or advice. That’s why we’ll schedule times to talk as often as you need (subject to availability, of course). Scheduling helps us both prepare. I prefer to work normal business hours (Eastern time) in the middle of the week.  But if something comes up feel free to email me at any time. I usually respond within a day.

Will this work for you?

We won’t know till we have a chat. You can set up a free session HERE. I promise it's a real coaching session, not a sales pitch. I’m on Eastern Time in the US – but I’ve worked with companies from The Netherlands to California.
